Champion of National Major Division Men's Chess Championship - 2020 [Anuradhapura]
Thasitha became Champion of Major 2020 Anuradhapura by scoring 6 out of 7 points unbeaten.
This is few words on his chess life...
Thasitha was born on 15th January 1996 and started chess in 2004. He attended Royal College- Polonnaruwa and then successfully completed BSc Finance(Special ) Degree at University of Sri Jayawardenepura.
He reminds his coaches respecting their guidance from young age to university life –Mr. C.T.Weerasinghe(1st coach), Mr.Sajith Ranjeewa Thilakarathne, Mr.Dilan Rajeewa Thilakarathne, Mr.Nirosh de Silva (Former University coach) and Mr.Lakshitha Randil( Current University coach).

1.Champions of Sri Lanka University chess championship 2016
2.Champions of inter University chess championship 2017& 2018
3.10th place of Open Section in 22nd GACC International Inter-Varcity Chess Championship 2018
4.2nd Runners up at Sri Lanka Inter Club Super league Chess Championship 2017
Thasitha thinks his turning point in chess career is becoming a member of J’pura university chess team from his university 1st year.
