The Unrated category chess tournament of Kadana Branch of Nigel short Chess Academy was held on 8th May 2022. It was a Rapid event with chess clock set to 15 minutes each without increment.
Sasmitha from Maris Stella College, Negombo became the champion with the better tie break.

The event was organized by the Nigel Short Academy Sri Lanka for the purpose of giving the tournament experience for the newly chess learned players before moving to the events of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka and also to motivate the players who have already participated in the events but not FIDE rated. The organizers’ goal is not to get these players to the next unrated category event, but they are becoming rated players in near future.
